Our guides are built from Amazon India prices, ratings, published specifications and what buyers wrote in reviews. A very small number of guides cover products the author has personally bought and used, and those say so. We tell you which is which on every guide.
Every guide carries one of two labels. Hands-on Tested means the author bought the product and used it: so far a Samsung washing machine, ASIAN Wonder-13 running shoes and a Portronics air duster. Research Pick means we have not used the product, and the guide is built from the Amazon India listing, published specifications, prices, ratings and what buyers wrote in reviews. We do not publish test results for products we have not used. Most Indian product content copies specs straight from listings. We add what a listing leaves out: how many buyers rated the product, how many of them gave 1 star, what the most critical reviewers wrote, who should skip it and what changed since we last checked.
How the guides are written. Guides are researched and edited by Nipul Patil with AI assistance. Every price, rating and review summary is checked against Amazon India listings before it is published, and the date we checked is shown on the guide.
Steps 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 apply to every guide. Steps 3 and 4, buying and hands-on use, apply only to the very few products the author has bought; every other guide is a Research Pick and says so.
We start from popular, non-sponsored Amazon India results for the category and keep products with a real number of buyer ratings. Most guides compare 5 to 10 products.
For every guide we record, on the date we check: the price, the rating, the number of ratings, the share of 1-star ratings, the bought-last-month figure where Amazon shows one, and the specifications and warranty as the listing states them. If a listing does not state something, we write that it does not. For Research Picks, this step is the whole foundation of the write-up.
For the few products the author has used, a Samsung washing machine, ASIAN Wonder-13 running shoes and a Portronics air duster, they were bought at full retail price. We do not accept free products from brands, ever. Guides on the research track skip this step entirely and are built from step 2 instead, labeled Research Pick rather than personal reviews.
For the products the author has personally bought, they are used day to day before anything is written, not a quick unboxing. This step does not apply to research-track guides, since there is no physical product in hand.
We read the most critical reviews on each product page and summarise the points that come up, such as noise, build quality, leaks or service problems. These are reports from buyers, not our own findings, and the guide says so.
For each product we write who it suits, who should skip it, and what you give up at its price. These notes use only the data from the steps above, so a reader can check them against the listing.
Every guide shows the date we checked and a "What changed since the last update" section that lists price moves. We refresh a guide when prices or ratings change noticeably.
