What to check before you buy
- Waterproof vs water resistant: a fully waterproof bag has sealed seams and zips. Most backpacks here are water resistant, so use a raincover in heavy rain.
- Laptop size: check the maximum laptop size the bag fits, and measure your own laptop.
- Zips and seams: read the lowest rated reviews, since zips usually fail first.
- Padding: a padded laptop compartment protects against knocks.
- Rain habits: keep your laptop in a sleeve inside the bag. In a heavy shower, a plastic bag inside the backpack is a cheap extra layer.
